Real Madrid have reportedly submitted an enquiry for Borussia Dortmund prodigy Christian Pulisic, who has been previously linked with Liverpool.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Real Madrid have turned their attention towards Christian Pulisic, who has emerged as a possible alternative to Eden Hazard. The Borussia Dortmund forward has been linked with Liverpool, who recently ceded interest in him.

Pulisic has taken world football by storm ever since he broke into the Borussia Dortmund first-team setup at the nascent age of 17. An underwhelming 2017-18 season notwithstanding – Pulisic had 5 goals and 7 assists in 42 appearances – the teenage prodigy remains a highly rated prospect, who has attracted interest from clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and several others.

The USA international is seemingly in the mood to make 2018-19 a career defining season, having been in fine form during Dortmund’s pre-season games thus far. However, his future may just be away from the Signal Iduna Park, with Real Madrid showing an interest in him.

Los Blancos are in a serious need to bolster their attack following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Eden Hazard has been their priority target thus far. But, there have been very little movements in the Belgian’s pursuit in recent days, which is forcing Real Madrid to identify possible alternatives.

Pulisic is a player who Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a long time now. But, a possible obstacle in his pursuit could be the fact that the 19-year-old primarily operates in the same area that Gareth Bale occupies.

With the Welshman likely to stay at the Bernabeu, alternative solutions, should Real Madrid sign Pulisic, could be either to play the teenager in a more central role or deploy Bale on the left, where he enjoyed a lot of success at Tottenham.

Either way, Real Madrid will potentially have a long-term solution in attack in the Dortmund prodigy, whose versatility could be his greatest asset to Julen Lopetegui. Liverpool have also been heavily linked with Pulisic, with Jurgen Klopp recently speaking of his admiration of the player.

However, the Reds seem to have ceded their interest in the teenager, having already bolstered their attack by signing Xherdan Shaqiri. With Liverpool out of the picture, and the likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich not showing any concrete interest as of now, Real Madrid should have a clear run at Pulisic.

Los Blancos also seem to have made their intentions clear to Dortmund, with the report suggesting that they have submitted enquiries for the player. Real Madrid share a good relationship with the Bundesliga outfit, which could give them an advantage if they decide to launch the offensive for Pulisic.

An asking price of £60 million has been suggested in the report, which seems fair considering Pulisic’s age and the current prices in the transfer market. With the Eden Hazard links cooling down somewhat, the 19-year-old, former Liverpool target is a viable alternative, and it remains to be seen if he ends up making his way to the Bernabeu this summer.
