Transfer News: PSG plotting a shock move for Luis Suarez from Barcelona

PSG are reportedly planning to sign Luis Suarez from Barcelona, to fulfil Neymar’s wish to add Uruguayan international to the squad.

According to the report published by a Spanish Publication Sport, PSG are planning to land Luiz Suarez from Barcelona to fulfil the request made by Neymar to play alongside the 31-year-old Urugyuan striker.

Luis Suarez signed for Barcelona in 2014 and became a vital part of the historic second treble campaign of the Blaugrana in 2015, forming a fierce trio alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar. His scoring records for Barcelona are truly extraordinary, with 152 goals and 87 assists in just 197 appearances in the last four seasons. Adding to it, in 2016 he won European Golden Shoe award.

Even in the season of decline and inconsistent performances, Suarez showed his flair and amassed 31 goals and 17 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions last season. His incredible contributions in attack helped Barcelona win a domestic double-La Liga and Copa Del Rey.

Meanwhile, his ex-teammate Neymar left Barcelona last year and went onto join PSG on a transfer record fee. He instantly made a mark at the new club, but unfortunately fell out of relations with Edinson Cavani. The dispute between Neymar and Cavani has jeopardized the latter’s stay at the club, which has piqued the interest of some prominent names in European football to sign Cavani.

Thus, Neymar is influencing PSG to bring Suarez to replace his countrymen at Les Parisiens’ roster, and to make their superstar happy, PSG are now planning to gain the services of the 31-year-old from Barcelona.

Although, the relationship between the two clubs is not great since Neymar made a move to Paris. PSG never accepted the Catalan club’s interest in their players like Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Verratti. Instead in reply, they paid Neymar’s colossal release clause and later refused to sell Angel Di Maria on summer transfer deadline day, which made the Blaugrana sour of PSG.

Therefore, the Ligue 1 champions will find it difficult to get a positive response from the Catalan club if they approach for Suarez. Moreover, Suarez seems satisfied with his situation at his dream club Barcelona, and he would not be tempted by the appealing proposals by PSG.

Furthermore, Suarez has a release clause of €200 million, and to sign him, PSG will be forced to offload many players to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules. Hence, all signs indicate that PSG may not be able to grant Neymar his wish. Suarez is unlikely to join PSG, even if he ends up leaving Barcelona.
