Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a summer move for Paulo Dybala, with a possible bid for the Juventus forward on the cards
According to a report by TuttoMercatoWeb, Paulo Dybala is the subject of interest from Liverpool, who could be open to leaving Juventus for the Reds in the summer transfer window. The Merseyside club are set to launch the offensive for the Argentine after receiving positive signals over a possible transfer.
Dybala has enjoyed an extraordinary career since moving to Italy from boyhood club Instituto in 2012. Since then, the player’s stock has only soared, and he has gone on to take his career to the next level upon joining Juventus from Palermo in the summer of 2015.
Over the last three years, Dybala has gone about establishing himself as a key figure for the Bianconeri, with an impressive record of 68 goals and 25 assists in 140 outings. His performances for Juventus haven’t gone unnoticed though, with the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United all linked with him previously. The latest club in his pursuit are Liverpool.
The Reds have reportedly been in the market for an attacking reinforcement this summer, as they look to finally replace Philippe Coutinho. For a long time, Nabil Fekir was linked with a move to Anfield. But, some complications in his pursuit put Liverpool off the Frenchman’s tail, although recent reports do suggest that a move could still be on.
But, with no certainty regarding the completion of the transfer, Liverpool have been keeping their options open. Dybala seems to be in the same mould of targets, although the Merseyside club seem to be serious about pursuing a move for the Argentine international.
Liverpool have been in touch with an associate of Dybala – Gustavo Mascardi. The talks between the two parties have been constructive, and the Reds are willing to make a move for Dybala, as a result. The player, too, seems to be open to a possible move to Anfield, and we could see the deal be concluded swiftly, if Liverpool end their interest in Fekir.
Dybala’s possible departure would be a big blow to Juventus though, despite the impending arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, with Gonzalo Higuain being linked with an exit as well. But, the report does suggest that the ball is in Juventus’s court, and the Bianconeri could end up keeping hold of the Argentine.
The only realistic scenario that might see the Argentine leave Juventus would be if the Serie A outfit are in need of raising funds for the Ronaldo move. If they do decide to sell, Liverpool could have to pay a premium for Dybala, who still has four years remaining on his current deal at the Allianz Stadium.
This makes for an interesting transfer saga, with Dybala now a major transfer target for Liverpool. Whether the Argentine international’s stint in Turin comes to an end after three seasons, or if Juventus end up keeping hold of the player to create a potentially formidable attacking unit upon Ronaldo’s reported arrival.
