Former Liverpool star Suso has been linked to Real Madrid, with reports that his agent has offered the player to the European champions.
According to Spanish publication Marca, Suso’s career might be about to take him back to Spain. The report iterates that his agent, Alessandro Lucci, has offered the services of his client to Real Madrid, who are yet to respond. But, the former Liverpool player might be in for a summer move to the Bernabeu, if Los Blancos do show interest.
Suso never managed to get going at Liverpool, despite being tipped to become a quality midfielder at Anfield. But, the player’s move to AC Milan has proven to be an inspiring one and one that has jumpstarted his stagnating football career. Suso’s improvement has been astonishing, with the player not just becoming a regular but a key player for the Rossoneri.
Suso ended the season with 14 assists and 8 goals to his name and has been generating quite a bit of interest in his services for a year now. Real Madrid though, might be an interesting prospect for the former Liverpool star.
Real Madrid could see a mass summer exodus, with the likes of Isco, Marco Asensio, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic all linked with moves away from the club. With Julen Lopetegui taking over from Zinedine Zidane, we could see the manager bringing in some new faces, some that he finds to be a perfect fit within his tactical plan.
One of Florentino Perez’s missions has been to strengthen the Spanish core within the Real Madrid squad and bring forth the new generation. Suso is 24 and already a Spanish international. Add to that the fact that Suso has found a new level of form and has shown the ability to be ready for the big stage and Real Madrid could take up the opportunity to sign Suso.
But, despite Lucci offering Suso’s services to Real Madrid, the club will still need to negotiate a fee with AC Milan, which could be an easier task than expected. AC Milan are facing a financial crisis and must offload some players to adhere to the FFP regulations.
Real Madrid were close to signing him when he has 16, before he opted to move to Liverpool. But, the European champions can finally lay their hands on him, if Lopetegui feels Suso would be a good fit within his system.
A €40 million fee has been quoted by the report. If the fee is actually €40 million, Real Madrid should jump at the opportunity of landing a player like Suso.
Agile, technically adept and now a good contributor, Suso could just be the spark that Lopetegui needs, especially if one or more of the aforementioned players are to leave Real Madrid.
