Transfer News: Real Madrid in advanced talks with Liverpool target Alisson

Liverpool target Alisson Becker has reportedly agreed terms with Real Madrid, with a deal set to be completed before Brazil’s match against Switzerland.

Liverpool might be on the verge of losing out on another top target this summer, as Alisson has reportedly agreed terms with Real Madrid. The Brazilian goalkeeper has attracted the interest of several top European clubs this summer and the list includes the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid and PSG.

However, latest reports from Mundo Deportivo claim that the Roma superstar has already agreed on a move to the Bernabeu this summer after signing a six-year contract with Los Blancos. The European champions only need to come to terms with Roma regarding the transfer value before they can officiate the signing of this highly rated shot-stopper. Alisson himself reportedly wants the deal to be completed before the start of Brazil’s World Cup 2018 campaign.

That being said, the Spanish newspaper also claims that both sides are apparently finding it difficult to agree to a transfer value. Real Madrid are ready to offer €55m for Alisson with €5m add-on fees but Roma, who paid the only €8m for the Brazilian back in 2016, are firm on their valuation of €80m. Therefore, we could see some transfer merry-go-round as clubs fight for his signature.

Liverpool, on the other hand, will be devastated to lose out on another crucial target this summer. The Reds were in desperate need of a top-class goalkeeper following the unsatisfactory performances of their current duo of Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius. The latter, in particular, made a couple of grave mistakes which saw Liverpool concede two goals against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final.

Alisson has been a viable summer target for the Merseyside giants, as they aim to pose a strong challenge for the title next season. The Brazilian international could have been the next logical addition to a defensive unit, which was reinforced by the signing of Virgin van Dijk earlier this year.

Having already made 24 appearances for the Brazilian national team, Alisson was one of the standout keepers in Europe last season. He also qualifies for being included in the list of players worth looking forward to in the upcoming FIFA World Cup. His outstanding performances helped AS Roma finish third in the Serie A last season but most importantly, it also helped him establish a regular place in the Brazilian starting eleven, despite the presence of Manchester City starlet Ederson.

As for Real Madrid, they will be delighted to have signed the Brazilian international provided the transfer goes through. Despite their unprecedented success in the past three years, the goalkeeping spot has remained one of their weaknesses with Keylor Navas making a plethora of mistakes. However, Los Blancos will be able to breath easy after the signing of Alisson, who will definitely be a reliable defensive outlet for the Julen Loptegui-led Real Madrid next season.
