Transfer News: Karim Benzema looking for a move away from Real Madrid after Zinedine Zidane’s departure

Karim Benzema, the Real Madrid superstar is ready for a move away from the club, with the Frenchman looking to follow Zinedine Zidane out of Santiago Bernabeu.

According to a report by Don Balon, the Real Madrid superstar is ready to follow Zinedine Zidane to the exit door of the club as the departure of Zidane makes Benzema feel unsure of his future at the club. The Frenchman has faced the wrath of fans at the Santiago Bernabeu amid his unsatisfactory performances; and Florentino Perez’s new targets may take away his starting spot in the team in the absence of Zidane.

Karim Benzema, who is serving Los Blancos since past nine years has been an essential part of the success at the club since his arrival in Madrid, including the three successive Champions League triumphs. The French international made a famous fierce trio with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo. Abbreviated as BBC, they had successful campaigns together as the trio contributed immensely in winning trophies and created several records.

In 45 appearances across all competitions, Karim Benzema bagged 11 goals and 11 assists, a statistic which is not near to the expectations from a Real Madrid striker. Despite it, Zidane had almost acted like a human shield for Benzema, defending him every single week, as Zidane believed that Benzema’s presence on the pitch makes everyone else play better with his effective link-up game and intelligent movement.

With the exit of Zidane, the 30-year-old striker may feel isolated at the club and it could make him consider other prospects. Although there have not been concrete rumours for the player, he has been linked with Arsenal.

As the new manager, Unai Emery will probably re-build the squad at his new club and according to several reports, Alexandre Lacazette could be one of the first to be offloaded from the Emirates this summer. Benzema who possesses great pace and technique is of interest to Arsenal.

Moreover, the report from Don Balon also claims that Florentino Perez’s strong interest in Robert Lewandowski will clearly push Benzema down the pecking order. The Real Madrid president may sell Benzema to another club so that he could fund the transfer of Lewandowski. Thus, such change of situation at the club has alarmed the French international.

Additionally, reports have iterated that Benzema is tired of always being a victim of harsh treatment from fans at the Santiago Bernabeu and his desire to face new challenges in another league may draw him nearer to an exit, as long as his next destination could provide him with Champions League games.

At present, it looks like Benzema has sensed his reducing importance at Real Madrid and may willingly, make a move to a club where he will get sufficient game-time. Although, it is still unclear which club it would be, Benzema is unlikely to honour the entirety of his Real Madrid contract, which runs till 2021.
