Arsenal are keen to add 20-year old Eintracht Frankfurt attacking midfielder Aymen Barkok to their ranks as Unai Emery seeks players he can develop at the club.
Arsenal could make a move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s 20-year old attacker, Aymen Barkok in the coming days after the player impressed with his limited appearances in the Bundesliga. According to Tutto Mercato Web, Arsenal would be keen to wrap up a deal for the young, rising star in the coming days to fend off competition.
Arsenal’s pool of talent from their academy was showcased on many occasions during last season, with many academy products featuring in the Europa League and cup competitions. Some of them made the grade and got their debuts in the Premier League too.
Unai Emery seems to have the idea to develop players on the sides and wants to add few players to the already established pool from other clubs or academies. Frankfurt’s Aymen Barkok is one such player, and Emery seems to be keen on the player who played nine times for his club last season in the Bundesliga, assisting once.
Barkok has established his image as a versatile attacking midfielder, who can play behind the strikers or any other attacking positions. His other feature is his ability to use both feet, something in the mould of former star Santi Cazorla.
Since his promising displays last season, Arsenal have been tracking him and would be interested in a deal to bring him to the Emirates. There is further interest in the player from Italian side Torino who could promise for better first team action than Arsenal. But at Arsenal, Barkok could develop his game further under Emery and others around him.
Arsenal have already made their first signing of the summer with Swiss International and former Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner joining on a free transfer. Arsenal are also in the market for valuable additions to their squad and are eyeing some players for important positions especially in defence.
The signing of Barkok will not likely place a dent on Arsenal’s reported low net budget. Eintracht Frankfurt are probably going to demand some money, but this fee is expected to be minimal. But a rising interest in the player could also have a telling effect on the price, as it could still inflate.
In the coming days, it would be clear if Arsenal intend to bring the youngster to the Emirates or whether Barkok leave Frankfurt for some other team that might be interested in him.
