Transfer News: Manchester United and Liverpool ready to compete with Serie A giants to sign Italian wonder kid Federico Chiesa

Liverpool, Manchester United and several Serie A giants, are all chasing Fiorentina wonder kid Federico Chiesa, with the young Italian international impressing everyone with his talent.

The 20-year-old winger who currently plays for Italian side Fiorentina is a major target for several clubs in his homeland. Moreover, English teams like Manchester United and Liverpool are also ready to join what would be called as a clash of European giants for Federico Chiesa’s signature this summer, according to a report by Italian Publication Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Federico Chiesa bloomed for Fiorentina this season making 39 appearances for La Viola in which he bagged 9 goals and 5 assists, which was impressive enough to gain an international call-up. The young winger debuted for Italy in a Friendly match against Argentina at the Etihad stadium. A left-sided player, Chiesa is capable of playing at either wing and likes to cut inside and drive the opposition fullback out of position. With his contribution, he helped Fiorentina finish eighth in Serie A this season.

For now, Fiorentina aren’t likely to give away the young prodigy to any of the big clubs easily as they already rejected a bid of £35million plus Stephan El Shaarawy from Roma, with Napoli’s offer of £44 million with Marko Rog also deemed not good enough. The club is looking for a much better deal than already offered as Fiorentina believe that the winger is at the level of other young talents like Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe.

Addition to the Serie A giants showing interest in Chiesa, Liverpool have also added the Italian’s name to their list of targets. Although Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah were exceptional throughout 2017/18, the lack of cover for them was apparent both domestically and, crucially in the Champions League final.

Hence, Liverpool are heavily interested to fortify their attack. Additionally, Real Madrid’s sudden interest in Sadio Mane is likely to keep Liverpool on their toes making Chiesa a viable target.

However, it is quite surprising to see Jose Mourinho’s interest in the youngster as the Portuguese manager is known for relying on proven star players instead of investing in youth, but Federico Chiesa’s versatility in attack could be driving Manchester United to chase the young Italian as there are many gaps to fill in attack and the right wing.

At present, the player doesn’t have an agent to represent him and has not indulged himself in any kind of personal talks or negotiations with any of the interested clubs. Neither has he made any comments on his future in public.

As per the report, the player prefers to stay for now, as he might want to develop himself first and make himself ready for a bigger challenge in future than making a move now and sitting on the bench for another club, which may affect his growth. Meanwhile, Fiorentina have declared that they won’t listen to any offers below £50 million.

It is clear that the youngster has made quite an impression of himself in Europe after a series of brilliant performances domestically. If Chiesa keeps performing similarly in future, then it is certain that La Viola will earn a fortune from a big move, be it this summer or next.
