Real Madrid are ready to make a move for Liverpool head coach Jurgen following Zinedine Zidane’s shock resignation.
According to a report by The Sun, Champions League finalists, Liverpool could be bracing themselves for a Real Madrid raid for head coach Jurgen Klopp, following the shock exit of Zinedine Zidane this week.
The Frenchman shockingly handed in his resignation as Real Madrid manager on Thursday, after guiding the Spanish giants to three Champions League triumphs in addition to clinching a La Liga title and other minor honours in his two and a half years reign.
Zidane’s decision to quit Real Madrid just five days after their win against Liverpool in the Champions League has crept in a series of pessimism among fans and club officials alike. That being said, the record 13-time Champions League holders are currently in no mood to mourn over the loss of their prized manager.
Instead, they have already identified Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp as a potential successor for Zidane, with club president Florentino Perez firmly believing that he has the personality and character to take over at Real Madrid.
Since joining Liverpool back in 2015, the German has achieved great success with the Reds, despite a lack of silverware. The usual criticism for lack of form aside, Klopp has embedded a sense of passion and commitment into his team, which has driven them forward week in week out. In fact, the 50-year-old has successfully managed to bring an identity into this Liverpool side, ultimately escalating their status in European football.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, have done significantly well in the Champions League for the past three years. Zidane’s proficiency of guiding some of the world’s best footballers and to make them work as a collective unit has already given them unprecedented success in European football. Therefore, replacing the club legend will be tough for Los Blancos.
Aside from Klopp, the club has also been linked with a move for Mauricio Pochettino. However, the Argentine recently signed a contract extension with Tottenham, meaning a move this summer is somewhat unlikely, leaving Klopp as the most viable candidate for the Spanish giants, for now.
Blessed with the ability to rejuvenate any team in the world, Klopp is an ideal fit for Real Madrid. His time in charge of Mainz and Borussia Dortmund has already shown exactly what he is really capable of. When it comes to managing a club as big as Real Madrid, it often depends on a manager’s ability to bond a team chock-full of egos into a collective unit and the Liverpool boss is highly specialised in that regard.
His aggression, coupled with his intensive footballing philosophy can definitely guide Los Blancos to further glory while providing them with a clear identity for the coming years. Liverpool’s exhilarating brand of football has already impressed Florentino Perez and it would appear as no surprise if the Real Madrid president plans to appoint the 50-year-old as Zidane’s successor next season.
