Manchester United are reportedly ready to offer Anthony Martial as part of a stunning deal to land Borussia Dortmund sensation Christian Pulisic.

According to a report by Daily Mirror, Manchester United are set to propose a sensational deal in their bid to land Christian Pulisic in the summer transfer window. The Premier League heavyweights are ready to offer Anthony Martial to Borussia Dortmund as part of a player-plus-cash deal.

Pulisic has managed to capture the imagination of pundits, coaches and fans alike since breaking into the Borussia Dortmund first-team setup at the nascent age of 17 in 2016. Having made massive strides in his first season at Signal Iduna Park itself, the player has gone on to cement his place as a regular this term.

Indeed, 41 appearances across all competitions for a 19-year-old speaks a great deal about how much he has grown in stature over in 18 months or so of senior football. While 5 goals and 7 assists in these games aren’t exactly world class figures, he has already improved last season’s tally.

Unsurprisingly, the USA international’s advent hasn’t gone unnoticed, with the player widely regarded as one of the most promising talents in world football. With such a tag also comes attention from some of the biggest clubs in the world – Manchester United are at the head of the chasing pack for Pulisic.

Jose Mourinho doesn’t really have a shortage of choice in attack as far as personnel are concerned. But, his attack is eerily left-heavy since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, with only Juan Mata proving able enough to operate on the right flank for Manchester United.

Mourinho has tried deploying Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial on the right flank. But, with the position not being a natural one for either, they have struggled to make any sort of impact, making Pulisic a viable target for Manchester United.

While the player does identify himself as an attacking midfielder, he has made a pronounced impact for Dortmund on the right side of their attack, which would have please the Manchester United manager. But, the Bundesliga outfit are understandably reluctant to part ways with the 19-year-old in the summer.

Manchester United though, are looking to sweeten the deal by offering Martial in addition to cash for the teenager. Indeed, the Frenchman seems to have hit a brick wall at Old Trafford, having fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Sanchez, despite starting the season strongly.

The report suggests that Mourinho is ready to sanction Martial’s sale either way in the summer, and losing him in a player-plus-cash deal for Pulisic would be preferable. Such a deal would also help them lower Pulisic’s £40 million price tag, although it remains to be see if Dortmund accept Manchester United’s offer, should they make it.
