Leroy Sane is the latest Manchester City player to be linked with a summer move, with Real Madrid reportedly plotting an €80 million summer move for the German.

According to Spanish publication Don Balon, Manchester City could be subject of a summer bid from Real Madrid for one of their talismans. But, this time, a different player has been linked, with Leroy Sane the man touted to be the focus as Real Madrid plot an €80 million summer move for the German winger.

Leroy Sane had a quiet first season at Manchester City after arriving from Schalke 04 for a mammoth fee. But, the 22-year-old has been on song this season, much like the rest of the Manchester City roster. The German wing wizard has a tally of 12 assists and 9 goals in the Premier League itself and has been one of the pillars of the team’s success, despite playing just 2064 minutes in the league this season – a minutes tally that rounds out to 23 full games.

Sane has been voted the PFA Young Player of the Year for the season – a feat that resonates his success on the pitch this season, considering he beat the likes of Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Ederson, Marcus Rashford and young English prodigy Ryan Sessegnon for the award.

Real Madrid’s interest does not come as much of surprise. Los Blancos are ready to offload Gareth Bale in the summer and are already lining up replacements – the most famous among them being Neymar, who has been linked with an audacious return to Spain, albeit to Madrid.

But, Neymar’s move could involve a lot of complications and the Brazilian could change his mind about wanting a move to Real Madrid. Thus, Florentino Perez is already eyeing other players who could replace Bale, should their pursuit of Neymar fail, with Mohamed Salah an option as well.

Sane’s pace, dribbling ability along with his ability to contribute in terms of goals and assists would take much of the burden away from Cristiano Ronaldo, something that reared its ugly head in the start of the season, wherein Ronaldo’s lack of form saw Real Madrid suffer a lack of goals, which in turn has been the reason for their surrender of the La Liga title this season.

Leroy Sane is just 22 and has shown an incredible level of talent already. The 22-year-old is sure to grow with age and could become one of the most feared wingers of all time. The fee does make sense as well, with Manchester City unlikely to even listen to offers around the same mark as they had shelled in order to land Sane in the first place – €50 million.

€80 million is not much by Real Madrid’s standards, but Manchester City are unlikely to want to listen to offers for the 22-year-old, who himself would want to continue his fledgling career at Etihad. Still, a fee that can hardly be ignored and could ruffle a few feathers, should Real Madrid actually table the offer.
