Luke Shaw is reportedly set to take a call on his future at Manchester United in the summer, as his stock at the club continues to plunder.

According to a report by ESPN, Luke Shaw is yet to come to a final decision surrounding his future at Manchester United. The Englishman, who is a bit-part player at Old Trafford, will assess his position at the club in the summer transfer window before taking a call on whether he will depart or stay.

Shaw has, thus far, failed to deliver on the promise that saw Manchester United make him the then-most expensive teenager in world football. Four years since moving from Southampton, the player is yet to establish himself as a regular, having been earmarked as the long-term first-choice left-back in 2014.

This season, Shaw had enjoyed a promising two-month spell when he was starting week in week out. But, the last couple of months have seen him fall down the pecking order once again, with the ghosts of Jose Mourinho’s maiden season at Manchester United returning with a vengeance.

Not only has the 22-year-old lost his place to Ashley Young once again, but the Englishman has also been subject to constant public criticism by Mourinho. Widespread reports of Manchester United eyeing potential left-back additions haven’t helped Shaw’s case either.

Rumours have also been rife about Manchester United being ready to offload Shaw after a failed four-year stint, while there hasn’t been any shortage of interest in him. But, the youngster still hasn’t made up his mind as far as his future at Old Trafford is concerned.

The report though, iterates that Shaw has not ruled out staying at Manchester United despite his struggles at the club. The player is also set to miss the flight to Russia with the England National Side unless Gareth Southgate has an unprecedented injury crisis on his hands.

The information from the report suggests that Shaw might be up for a fight for his place in Mourinho’s squad, judging by his strong showing against Bournemouth on Wednesday. But, if minutes continue to be hard to come by, he might be willing to finally call it quits at Manchester United.

Whatever be his decision in the summer, Shaw is likely to be highly sought-after in the transfer market, with even Barcelona reportedly showing interest. It now remains to be seen if he ends up staying at Manchester United, or if his time at the club comes to an end in the summer.
