Chelsea could reportedly reignite interest in Alexis Sanchez, should Manchester United make the Chilean international available in the summer.

According to TransferMarketWeb, Alexis Sanchez could be set for a return to London. The report iterates that Manchester United could make the Chilean available in the summer after being disappointed with the displays of their January signing. And Chelsea could jump at the opportunity of bringing Sanchez back to London, albeit to the Bridge.

Alexis Sanchez’s January transfer was the talk of the footballing world. The Chilean rejected Manchester City to join their neighbours Manchester United from Arsenal, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan heading the other way. Despite the optimism surrounding the deal, the move hasn’t panned out to be a great one for the Chilean so far.

While a return of 2 goals and 3 assists in 9 Premier League appearances for Manchester United is not bad by any account, his level of displays have not been the same as his Arsenal days and the deal itself has often come into question, with many already pointing that the transfer was unnecessary, given that Mourinho already had Martial and Rashford at his disposal.

Nevertheless, in contrast to what was expected, the report states that Manchester United could open the doors towards doing another deal involving Alexis Sanchez come summer citing the disappointment over Alexis Sanchez’s form at Manchester United as the reason.

Alexis Sanchez was brought in to give them a push towards the title and better results, which clearly hasn’t happened. Add to that the report of the absurd wages that the Chilean collects, the report might just culminate into the truth after the end of the season.

The report also iterates that the old suitors could again come to the fore to battle for Alexis Sanchez’s signature. But, it does not mention Manchester City’s name and lists Chelsea and PSG as the two clubs who could reignite their interest in the summer.

Chelsea’s decision could be in the affirmative due to many reasons. First of all, with the speculation surrounding Eden Hazard’s future, bringing in Alexis Sanchez would only shore up their attack to cope with the probability of the Belgian’s departure. Even if the Real Madrid target ends up staying, Hazard, with Sanchez besides him, would make quite the dynamic duo in attack.

With Conte likely to depart the Bridge at the end of the season, one more reason might be the Chelsea board trying to show their faith in the potential new manager or to gift the incoming manager with a player he could well do with.

It will be interesting to see how it all pans out, as even the Manchester United fans are likely to have turned against Sanchez a bit, due to the treatment of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford since his arrival – two of United’s fan favourites.
