Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Marcus Rashford from Manchester United in the summer.
According to a report by TransferMarketWeb, Marcus Rashford is the subject of interest from Real Madrid, where Zinedine Zidane is set to revamp his squad in the summer transfer window. Manchester United could be willing to offload the player, with Jose Mourinho ready to give up on him.
Rashford has had a lot of excitement surrounding his talent for the last few seasons, having scored on his debut in Europe as well as the Premier League. His reputation only continued to burgeon in Jose Mourinho’s maiden campaign as the Manchester United manager, prior to which many had written off the player’s chances of progressing.
But, Rashford was one of the more regular features for Manchester United last season, although the numbers have taken a beating in the current campaign. The youngster has started just 22 games this season, largely due to being rotated regularly with Anthony Martial in the first half of the season, before Alexis Sanchez’s arrival in January reduced him to a bit-part player.
Pundits have opined that Rashford would be better served by leaving Manchester United and joining a club where he will garner regular game time. Regular game time or not, one club is ready to offer him an escape route out of Old Trafford, with Real Madrid showing an interest.
Los Blancos look set for a squad overhaul in the summer after a disappointing league campaign which has seen them fall 16 points adrift of table toppers Barcelona. Attack, in particular, looks destined for big changes, with the famed BBC trio set to be dismantled – the Real Madrid careers of Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale are reportedly coming to an end.
With the duo set to be offloaded in the summer, at least two attacking additions are set to be made, with a striker understandably a priority. Rashford is, thus, a viable target for Real Madrid, who could be a long-term solution as the focal point of attack.
The player’s ability to play in the wide areas would also help him interchange positions well with Cristiano Ronaldo while also learning the tricks of the trade from one of the best players of all time. Real Madrid could, therefore, be an ideal destination for the Manchester United academy graduate.
Indeed, the chance to regularly play in his preferred role as a striker at Real Madrid is tempting enough for Rashford. Add to that, the fact that he will be playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world only gives him further motivation to switch allegiances from Manchester United.
The report suggests that the Red Devils might be open to selling the player as well, with Jose Mourinho “ready to give up” on him. Manchester United fans, however, might not be too pleased if the Prodigal Son moves away this early in his career. It remains to be seen if he is indeed sold to Real Madrid in the summer.
