Lazio Sporting Director Igli Tare recently revealed how much it would take for any of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s suitors to prise him away from Stadio Olimpico.
In a recent interview with Sport Italia, Lazio Sporting Director Igli Tare revealed that it would take upwards of €90 million for the club to even consider parting with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who has been courting interest from the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
On being asked if an offer of €80-90 million would be enough, Tare said “Yes, even much more. There have already been offers in this region last summer and we didn’t consider them. There are major European clubs interested in Milinkovic-Savic, but we don’t have anything definite on the table.”
Aside from those sides, clubs such as Juventus and Manchester City have also been rumoured to be interested in the central midfielder, who has risen to prominence after a number of stellar performances over the course of the past two seasons with I Biancocelesti.
Standing at 6’4, he is strong and an extremely hard worker. He has been an integral part of Lazio’s side since the move from Belgian side Racing Genk in 2015. The Serb is currently enjoying the most prolific season of his career, netting 11 goals and providing 7 assists in 37 games this term.
A box-to-box midfielder who is also capable of playing in a central attacking role, he has all the attributes to become a world class midfielder in the near future. He is good with the ball at his feet, has great technical ability and also a good eye for a pass and the goal.
Manchester United are in the market for a midfielder as Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera are heavily linked with a move away in the summer, while Michael Carrick is set to join Jose Mourinho’s coaching staff at the end of the season, making Milinkovic-Savic a viable target.
As for Real Madrid, Toni Kroos and Dani Ceballos have been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu. Additionally, Isco’s recent statements about Zinedine Zidane’s confidence in him has only fueled speculation about his future at the club and Milinkovic-Savic could only benefit from playing with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Casemiro.
Aside from them, other European heavyweights like Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and even Juventus are all clubs that can meet Tare’s €90 million valuation of the 23-year-old. They are all regular contenders for Europe’s top prize and can also meet any of his wage demands.
It comes as no surprise that so many clubs across all over Europe wish to add him to their ranks. Should they all step up their interest in the Serb, this has the potential to be one of the most expensive and longest transfer sagas of the summer and with Manchester United and Real Madrid leading in his pursuit, it will be interesting to see where he heads off to next.
