Transfer News: Lucas Moura leaning towards a January move to Tottenham Hotspur

Wantaway PSG attacker Lucas Moura is understood to be inclined towards joining Tottenham Hotspur in the winter transfer window

Paris Saint-Germain winger and Manchester United target Lucas Moura believes that Tottenham Hotspur will be the right destination for him in January, as per reports from Sky Sports.

The 25-year old Brazilian international has been deemed surplus to requirements at the Parc Des Princes this season, following the big money arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window.

As a result, Lucas has featured in just five Ligue 1 games for Les Parisiens in the ongoing campaign, none of which have been from the start. With the FIFA World Cup in Russia just around the corner, he is keen on boosting his chances to make it to the Brazil squad and is set to leave PSG in search of regular footballing action.

A number of clubs had expressed interest in Lucas’ services, but Premier League giants Manchester United were tipped as the favourites to clinch his signature in the winter window. However, the Red Devils have since gone on to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, which has spelled an end to their pursuit of the Brazilian.

Interestingly, Arsenal too were reported to be eyeing a move for the 25-year old, but with Arsene Wenger keen on bringing in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, it is unlikely that the Gunners will make a move for Lucas.

Tottenham, on the other hand, have been keeping a close eye on Lucas’ compatriot Malcom, who also happens to ply his trade in the Ligue 1 with Bordeaux. The club are understood to be intent on signing the 20-year old and are also open to the possibility of loaning him out to Bordeaux for the remainder of the season, to help them fight their relegation battle.

But, with the chances of that happening slim, Spurs are targeting Lucas as an alternative for his fellow Brazilian winger. And the PSG attacker is also understood to be favouring a move to the Lilywhites. The 25-year old is believed to be an admirer of the way Tottenham play and thinks Mauricio Pochettino is the right man to help him progress further in his career.

A report from the Telegraph goes onto claim that Spurs have already held talks with the player and had arranged a visit to their training ground for the player, which has left a strong impression on the Brazilian.

The 25-year old, who has represented the Brazilian national team on 36 occasions, is a proven performer and has won a large number of trophies during his time in France. The fact that he has not represented PSG in the UEFA Champions League this season will also come as a great news for Tottenham, as he will be eligible to play for them in the knockout stages.

PSG are demanding a fee in the range of £23 million for Lucas, almost half of the £45 million that Bordeaux are asking for Malcom. Given his experience and proven pedigree, Tottenham could reap huge benefits by capturing the signing of Lucas.
