Arsenal are reportedly plotting a £35 million move for former Manchester United superstar Wilfried Zaha as a potential replacement for the outbound Alexis Sanchez.
If reports from The Sun are to be believed, Arsenal are reportedly lining up a move for one of the former Manchester United stars in order to cover for the potential exit of Alexis Sanchez, who is in the last year of his contract and has been linked with Manchester City and other clubs.
Wilfried Zaha failed to set the stage alight at Manchester United following his big-money move to Old Trafford. And with Alex Ferguson retiring, Zaha had to face being exiled from the squad completely as David Moyes took charge. The player ultimately ended up returning to his old hunting ground at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace welcomed Zaha back with open arms and the player has since redeemed himself. The winger has sprinted his way into stardom as far as Premier League is concerned. Zaha is now feared by other clubs and more often than not, his presence on the field seems to bear fruit for Palace.

Zaha turned 25 only recently and does have a long-term contract with Palace, one that shall keep the Ivory Coast international at Selhurst Park till 2022. But, there are doubts over his future, especially with several Premier League clubs showing interest in acquiring the player on a permanent basis.
Tottenham have been linked on a perennial basis to the winger in order to strengthen the left side of their attack. But, Spurs have also been linked to Mahrez and Lanzini, both of whom are also thought to be in the same realistic realm on the shortlist.
Pochettino has been left unimpressed by Moussa Sissoko’s impact since his move from Newcastle and while he has gotten some great return from deploying Son Heung-Min in the said position often, a better, more natural out-and-out winger is needed if Spurs are to unlock a sixth gear, to say, in their charge towards the Premier League title.
But, Arsenal have now emerged as a front-runner for Zaha. Arsene Wenger is battling problems of his own as far as roster issues are concerned. Alexis Sanchez looks all set to exit Emirates, with the Chilean no closer to agreeing a new deal at the club, given the fact that his current deal expires at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

The Gunners have been linked with many-a players to replace Sanchez. But, Zaha could be the perfect fit. The winger’s directness combined with his ability to strike fear in the opposition defence could provide a different dimension to the Arsenal attack. Also, it is worth noting that Zaha had rejected the chance to sign for Arsenal en route to Manchester United.
The move could finally see everything fall into place. Zaha is proven in the Premier League and would equip Wenger with all the tools of a deadly counter along with the possession football his philosophy entails. A £35 million fee is being quoted which would be the ideal amount considering the years left on Zaha’s current deal at Palace.
