Real Madrid are reportedly plotting a move to snap up teenage attacking prodigy Brahim Diaz from Manchester City next summer
According to a report in Spanish publication Diario Gol, Real Madrid have established contacts with the representatives of highly rated teenage attacker Brahim Diaz. Los Blancos are weighing up a possible move for next summer and are ready to snatch the Manchester City prodigy away to the Bernabeu.
Diaz joined the famed Manchester City academy from boyhood club Malaga in 2013, and has rapidly progressed through the ranks at the Premier League club. Widely regarded as one of the most exciting young prospects in Europe, the player has consistently played several levels above his age grade.
All of 18, Diaz has already made his senior debut for City, and is a regular fixture in the club’s under-23 side. At the same time, the teenager has broken into the Spain under-21 side, which is, again, an indication of just how talented he is.
This season, Diaz has made nine appearances in Premier League 2 and the UEFA Youth League, with an impressive record of five goals to boot. The diminutive attacking midfielder is known for his nippy movement and a remarkable close control, while possessing a dangerous eye for goal as well.

His tremendous development is earning Diaz many an admirer, with Real Madrid – against whom he scored a wonder goal in a pre-season friendly – the latest club in his pursuit. In fact, Los Blancos have already established contacts with the player’s representatives, and are considering a move for next summer.
The interest from Real Madrid in an attacking midfielder does come as a bit of a surprise, with Isco establishing himself as a pivotal figure in the first-team setup. Furthermore, Marco Asensio’s rise has effectively killed off competition for places in Zinedine Zidane’s squad.
But, with Gareth Bale being linked with an exit from the Bernabeu, a place could open up in the Real Madrid squad. The Spanish and European champions have also been eyeing Dele Alli as their primary target, as per widespread reports, but Diaz has emerged as a cheaper alternative.
Pep Guardiola is aware of City’s approach for the whizkid, and is keen on retaining his services. But, if first-team opportunities continue to remain hard to come by, Diaz’s hand could be forced, and he could be on his way out of the Etihad, much like the same way Jadon Sancho departed.
Guardiola is urging Diaz to bide his time, insisting first-team football will follow for the prodigy. But, the interest from Real Madrid may be too tempting to turn down, and it remains to be seen if the La Liga heavyweights succeed in his pursuit.
