Transfer News: Rines Arifi set for Manchester United trial

14-year-old Swedish wonderkid Rines Arifi, who currently plays for Malmo-based Husie IF, is set for a trial at Premier League giants Manchester United.

According To Tribal Football, Manchester United are set to take Swedish wonder boy Rines Arifi on trial in the coming weeks. The Red Devils had offered the 14-year-old the chance to come to Old Trafford for trials and the youngster’s father has confirmed that the player has answered in affirmative.

Hajriz Arifi, his father, has confirmed that the player will attend the trials towards the end of October. He also iterated that the contact was established through Franck Betullat, an agent, who had landed his new client to Manchester United, who invited the player for a trial between October 23-29.

“United will judge him in several different ways as I have understood it. But if they like him, Rines will be invited to their academy,” Hajriz revealed.

The 14-year-old is a self-professed fan of Manchester United and Real Madrid and iterated in a recent interview to Swedish publication 24 Malmo that he had dreamed of such an opportunity ever since his boyhood. His favourite players – Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic – also show his affinity towards the aforementioned two clubs.

Rines defines himself as “a stable inner field player, good game spirit, power and a good shot” and is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in Sweden. Manchester United have been on a thorough and extensive scouting trip towards Eastern Europe with a view to spotting future superstars early on in their career.

The heavy focus on youth recruitment is already starting to yield results, with arrivals like Di’Shon Bernard, Arnau Puigmal, Ethan Galbraith, Millen Baars, Largie Ramazani and more in the Under-18 setup, joining the likes of Nishan Burkart, Angel Gomes, Aidan Barlow and Tahith Chong.

As far as Husie IF are concerned, Rines will become the second player to be invited by a European giant – Elias Olsson had trained with Feyenoord a few months ago. It will be interesting to see if the 14-year-old manages to impress the coaches at United enough to warrant an entry into their fabled academy.

For now, Rines would be focused on polishing his skills ahead of the trial as he prepares himself for the biggest moment of his budding footballing journey.
