Chelsea forward Loic Remy is reportedly being targeted by four clubs – Newcastle, Swansea City, Cagliari, and Deportivo La Coruna

According to a report by Transfer Market Web, Loic Remy is being targeted by Newcastle United, Swansea City, Cagliari and Deportivo La Coruna. The 30-year-old striker is in the final year of his contract at Chelsea, having not played for Antonio Conte’s side since a 4-0 victory over Aston Villa in April 2016.

Although he made the 25-man travelling party for their pre-season tour of China and Singapore, Remy has been sidelined since.

Loic Remy joined the Blues from Queens Park Rangers in 2014. He formed a crucial part of the squad that helped Chelsea to win the Premier League and EFL Cup with nine goals and two assists. The departure of Didier Drogba almost made it seem like he would have a more prominent role at the club.

Unfortunately, that was not meant to be as Chelsea went on to endure a disastrous season, wherein Remy made even fewer appearances than he did in their title winning campaign. He barely featured for Mourinho and was used even lesser by Guus Hiddink, ending the season with three goals and an assist in 20 appearances.

After Conte’s arrival, he was sent out on loan to Crystal Palace. A few weeks after joining them, injuries to his calf and hamstring kept him out for the entire first half of the campaign. He made a total of 8 appearances for the Eagles and didn’t manage a single goal or assist.

Hence, it becomes quite obvious that Remy isn’t a part of Antonio Conte’s plans for the upcoming season, despite the uncertainty surrounding the future of Diego Costa.

Newcastle and Swansea are keen on bolstering their attack. The new season is upon us, bringing bigger and better challenges, and both clubs would not want to be left behind. Remy’s experience and skill can prove to be invaluable for both clubs. The fact that he played in Chelsea’s title-winning squad will only make him more appealing.

Even if they do not deploy him as a regular striker, Remy can be utilized as a strong back-up. At this point, the player merely needs some confidence and regular game time.

Meanwhile, a move abroad could also be on the cards for the Frenchman. However, it might take some time getting used to playing in a different league, especially after raking in Premier League experience. Additionally, his knowledge of the game can come as a boost to clubs like Swansea and Newcastle, if he stays back in England.
