Juventus are reportedly set to make a shock £22.5 million bid for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini as an alternative to PSG star Blaise Matuidi.
According to The Sun, Marouane Fellaini has a new suitor this summer, with the defending Italian champions Juventus eyeing a shock move for the Belgian. The Bianconeri are looking towards the midfielder as an alternative to PSG superstar Blaise Matuidi and will move for the United man in case their pursuit of the Frenchman fails.
Juventus are reportedly ready to test Manchester United’s resolve with a £22.5 million bid for the Belgian powerhouse, an amount that is close to the fee United paid in bringing the player over to Old Trafford from Everton in their first season after the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Marouane Fellaini has been subject to much criticism ever since moving to United in the summer of 2013. The Belgian has never been seen as a ‘true United’ player by fans and pundits. But, the 29-year-old seems to have won many hearts with his continued showing of unwavering passion towards the club.
Add to that his vital contributions in different competitions over the course of last two seasons, and he has, to the surprise of many, established himself as a mainstay in the first-team setup – a player that has the backing of the manager at helm. However, the Belgian could be set to move away from Old Trafford this summer.
United’s midfield line has been strengthened by the arrival of Nemanja Matic while Andreas Pereira has also returned to the club and by the looks of it, has earned Jose Mourinho’s trust to be a part of the first-team setup this season. The aforementioned is sure to threaten Fellaini’s game time at the club.
The 29-year-old has recently been linked with a switch to Galatasaray. But, Juventus could be a more enticing project. Massimiliano Allegri has been scouring for a midfielder to add to his squad. And the shock 3-2 defeat to Lazio in the Italian Super Cup has accentuated his need for the same.
Fellaini is a bit more robust and does not play the modernized eye-soothing brand of football. But, Juventus need a strong presence in the middle of the park, which the Belgian can so ably provide while also adding another attacking outlet to their arsenal, especially in set-pieces.
Juventus, though, continue to prioritize Blaise Matuidi and will only move for Fellaini in case their pursuit of Matuidi fails to come to fruition. It will be interesting to see, though, if Mourinho sees Fellaini as an indispensable member of his squad and in case he does, the Belgium international is likely to stay put at Old Trafford.
