Transfer News: Liverpool eye shock move for Arturo Vidal

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a shock summer move for Bayern Munich superstar Arturo Vidal after failure in their pursuit of RB Leipzig talisman Naby Keita.

According to an exclusive report from World Football Index, Liverpool are eyeing a move for Bayern Munich superstar Arturo Vidal, especially with no improvement in the pursuit of RB Leipzig Naby Keita, who looks set to stay in the Bundesliga, for now, at least.

Arturo Vidal has been recognised as one of the best box-to-box midfielders of the present time and his stocks rose further after the player joined Bayern Munich from Juventus in the summer of 2015. The 30-year-old has since become a rock for the Bavarians and has continued to be one of the leaders on pitch for the Chilean National side.

Last season, the player featured in 41 matches for the club, recording a tally of 9 goals and 4 assists – decent numbers for the midfielder. The player isn’t really perturbed by the arrival of Corentin Tolisso either, with the player having been brought in to offset Xabi Alonso’s retirement.

But, the player has still been linked with a move away from the club. And Premier League has cast its eye on the Chilean. Chelsea were linked with the player for long and it seems Liverpool have joined the queue, judging by the recent reports.

Liverpool need reinforcements in the midfield, with the club spending almost the entire summer chasing Naby Keita, much to no avail. And with no progress in the pursuit of the Guinean, Jurgen Klopp has decided to shift his attention to Vidal.

Indeed, Vidal, at 30 and with bags of trophies against his name, would bring in some of the winning mentality and leadership along with him, which could be just what the club needs in order to climb back to the top echelons of European football.

However, it will be interesting to note that Bayern have no intention of selling the 30-year-old, who himself may prefer a return to Italy over a move to the Premier League, if he does end up leaving, according to the reports.

Still Vidal is a better option than Keita and would add some steel in the midfield, with Liverpool already full of creative options in attack.
