AS Roma are reportedly set to test the waters for Lucas Vazquez by lodging a €35 million bid for the Real Madrid winger.

Spanish publication Don Balon have reported that AS Roma are set to launch the offensive for Lucas Vazquez by putting a €35 million bid on the table for Real Madrid to consider. The Spaniard is also attracting interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

Lucas Vazquez is the quintessential late bloomer, spending several years with the Real Madrid Reserves after progressing through the ranks at the club before finally managing to break into the first-team setup in 2015.

This past season, the player made 50 appearances for Los Blancos, proving to be a reliable option for Zinedine Zidane to consider over the course of the campaign. Vazquez managed to turn in a decent return of 4 goals and 14 assists, although he would like to improve on it in the forthcoming season.

But, he might be turning out for a club other than Real Madrid in the 2017/18 season, with several suitors vying for his signature. Vazquez could be looking to leave the club as he is still not one of the first names on the team sheets – a whopping 30 of his 50 appearances came from the bench.

AS Roma have been heavily linked with the player this summer, with director of football Monchi eyeing attacking reinforcements. The Giallorossi are in desperate need for additions in attack following the departure of Mohamed Salah in addition to Francesco Totti calling time on his career.

While Lorenzo Pellegrini has already moved to Stadio Olimpico this summer, Vazquez’s addition could provide Roma with a long-term solution in attack. And the Serie A club are set to lodge a formal offer for the player, putting a €35 million bid on the table.

A move to Italy could potentially be just what Vazquez needs to spark his career into life as he is likely to secure a more prominent role in Roma’s first-team setup. But, he could also have other offers to consider in the coming days, with Arsenal and Liverpool reportedly interested in him as well.

The Premier League duo are eager to beef up their respective squads ahead of what could be a gruelling season, while also preparing for the potential departures of their star players, Alexis Sanchez and Philippe Coutinho, respectively.

Roma, though, have taken the decisive step in pursuit of Vazquez, with the report claiming that the offer could be tempting enough for Real Madrid to sell him, although there were suggestions recently that they are unwilling to let him leave. It now remains to be seen if the player indeed calls it quits at Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
