Manchester United are reportedly the latest entrant in the race to sign Manchester City wonderkid Jadon Sancho, who is being tailed by Arsenal among others

Jadon Sancho was already on the radar of Arsenal, Tottenham and even Chelsea to a certain extent. And Manchester City’s already seemingly losing cause has been further hit by the entry of Manchester United into the picture, according to a report from Manchester Evening News.

Jadon Sancho is one of the hottest young properties in England and has been tipped for a bright future in football. Perhaps the most hyped Manchester City academy graduate, the player’s performances have further added to the hype, with Sancho producing magnificent numbers last season.

With 20 goals and 7 assists in 33 appearances across various levels, the 17-year-old was thought to be on the verge of breaking into the first-team setup at Etihad. But, what was expected to be a crucial summer for his City career, has been rather disappointing.

Amidst interest from the London trio, Pep Guardiola took the decision of not including the player in his pre-season tour, which further aggravated Manchester City’s problems in getting Sancho to pen a new deal.

The Citizens were already struggling to get the player to commit his future to the club, with the 17-year-old worried about his chances of breaking through into the first-team. And Guardiola’s decision has certainly not helped.

Now, according to reports, City’s troubles have compounded, with Manchester United also entering the race for the attacker, who himself has missed training entirely after being made to sit out the pre-season tour, amidst reports that the player has refused to train.

Guardiola opted to include Phil Foden and Brahim Diaz in his pre-season tour – two other academy graduates who have impressed in the minutes provided to them on the tour so far. Now, the club risk losing who is probably their best shot at proving their academy setup successful at providing players for the first-team.

Jose Mourinho has already highlighted the need for an attacking wide player and while the Red Devils have been linked with the likes of Ivan Perisic among others, the Portuguese might just opt for the youthful exuberance of Sancho.

Mourinho has already seen the rise of Rashford and the process of him maturing under the Portuguese has been rather fruitful. Despite Mourinho’s reputation of overlooking academy graduates, his first season at Manchester United might just tempt Sancho into moving across the city.

While United do face competition from the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham, who both need reinforcements in the attacking wide area themselves, Sancho could prefer the Red Devils to show up the blue half of Manchester, who have failed to place their trust in his services this summer.
