Transfer News: Liverpool eye Dortmund star Christian Pulisic as Coutinho replacement

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for Borussia Dortmund sensation Christian Pulisic as replacement for Coutinho, who seems bound for Barcelona

According to The Sun, Liverpool are set to reignite interest in United States international Christian Pulisic. The Reds seem resigned to losing Coutinho to Barcelona and Jurgen Klopp is looking to bring in Borussia Dortmund sensation to Anfield as a replacement for the Brazilian.

Christian Pulisic is an 18-year-old attacker that has established a burgeoning reputation as one of the best prospects in not just the Bundesliga or in club football but also at international level – the player is labelled as one of the major hopes for the United States.

Last season, the player was a regular for Die Borussen, with a total of 43 appearances to his name and a commendable return of 5 goals and 13 assist to show for his efforts. However, with the departure of Thomas Tuchel and the subsequent arrival of Peter Bosz, the player may be pushed down the pecking order given the players the new manager decides to bring in.

Liverpool have been linked long to Pulisic, with Jurgen Klopp keen to bring player over to Anfield. The German manager was the one who oversaw the arrival of the United States international at Dortmund and was a key figure in the player’s development.

Liverpool are in need of reinforcements in attack. While Klopp does maintain his stance that Coutinho is set to stay at the club, the reports linking the Brazilian to Barcelona have only intensified, especially after Neymar being close to leaving the Blaugrana for PSG.

And with Coutinho’s sale potentially resulting in an inflow of cash for Liverpool, Klopp is looking for a reunion with Pulisic. The 18-year-old, too, will be hoping to reunite with Klopp at a club as iconic as Liverpool, especially with the Reds on an upward trajectory since the arrival of the outspoken and charismatic manager.

Liverpool will also be easily able to afford the player with the proceeds from Coutinho’s sale, which looks more than likely and if happens, the club will be in for a windfall.
