Transfer News: Jadon Sancho set for sensational Arsenal switch, fear Manchester City

Manchester City are reportedly resigned to losing Jadon Sancho to Arsenal this summer as their contract offer remains unsigned on the table.

According to a report in The Sun, Manchester City are concerned that Jadon Sancho is on his way out of Etihad and to the Emirates to join Arsenal. The 17-year-old wonderkid is refusing to sign a three-year deal worth £30,000 a week as he seeks first-team assurances.

Sancho joined the Manchester City youth setup from Watford in 2015. The teenage attacking prodigy has been highly impressive in the last two years, rapidly progressing through the ranks at the club to make the grade with the reserves last season.

Indeed, despite being all of 17, Sancho made seven appearances for City’s reserve side in Premier League 2 in addition to playing 28 other games for the under-18 team. In these games, the player turned in a commendable return of 20 goals and 8 assists, and is now widely regarded as one of the most exciting talents in England.

His time at City, though, looks destined to come to an end this summer as negotiations over a new deal seem to have reached an impasse. The Citizens have tabled a lucrative three-year £30,000-a-week deal to the youngster.

But Sancho needs more assurance over playing time in Pep Guardiola’s side next season. Moreover, the player’s concerns over receiving first-team football action next season have aggravated after Guardiola chose not to include the 17-year-old in his pre-season squad for the tour to the USA.

As a result, a summer exit looks likely for Sancho, with Arsenal and Tottenham keen on signing him this summer. While at Arsenal, the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are being heavily linked with a departure from the Emirates, Moussa Sissoko and Erik Lamela could leave Tottenham.

With the aforementioned players being rumoured to be on the exit trail, both Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino are eyeing summer attacking reinforcements. Thus, Sancho could be fast tracked into the first-team setup at either club, even if they go on to sign another attacking player.

The player, though, prefers the move to Arsenal over Tottenham as he sees Arsene Wenger as the perfect mentor to guide him in his senior career. This would come as a hammer blow to Tottenham who boast an impressive record of grooming young talents into top class footballers.

Indeed, Arsene Wenger has a proven track record of developing some truly world class attacking players under his tutelage. And so, it comes as no surprise that Sancho would want to work under the Frenchman.

Thus, Sancho looks set to return to London to play for Arsenal. Although, it remains to be seen if the move happens this summer or the next, depending on whether the two clubs can agree on an appropriate fee.
