Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a shock summer move for Tom Davies and are set to test Everton’s resolve with a bid for the youngster
According to The Sun, Chelsea are interested in Everton whizkid Tom Davies and are planning to move for the youngster this summer. As per the report, Antonio Conte is set to test Toffees’ resolve with a bid for the midfielder in the current transfer window.
Tom Davies was heralded as the next midfield wonderkid to emerge from the Everton academy setup after his senior breakthrough at Goodison Park. While he made his Premier League debut in the 2015-16 campaign, it was the last season where he established himself as one of the brightest young players in the country.

The Liverpool-born youngster made 24 league appearances under Ronald Koeman as he became one of Koeman’s go-to people as far as options in the midfield are concerned. Mainly deployed in the central midfield, the player did his job with aplomb and put in quite an appreciable effort.
He was slowly inducted into the lineup by Koeman. But, it was his back-to-back performances against Southampton and Manchester City that saw him lock down a regular place for himself in Koeman’s first-team plans.
The youngster, who has just turned 19 in June, has emerged as a shock target for Chelsea now, with Antonio Conte continuing to seek addition of depth in his midfield options. The 19-year-old’s successful break-through season has managed to catch the attention of the Blues.
Chelsea have signed Tiemoue Bakayoko to add to their midfield options. But, Nemanja Matic is likely to leave, which will reduce Conte’s midfield choice to Kante, Fabregas and Bakayoko. And Tom Davies is being eyed as a possible addition to the squad.
Everton have delved into the market and have brought in several new players – Davy Klaasen and Wayne Rooney being the only potential competitors for Tom’s place in the starting lineup. Tom, though, is unlikely to want to move.
The youngster is a local boy, born and brought up in the city of Liverpool, and his family has quite a history with Everton – his uncle Alan Whittle featured in 67 matches for Everton and was part of the side that won the First Division back in 1970.
Also, Davies has already established himself as a regular player at Goodison and given the players at Conte’s disposal right now, the player is unlikely to receive any greater chance of regular game time by option to move to Stamford Bridge.
