Liverpool are reportedly set to launch the offensive for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with a £30 million bid for the Arsenal midfielder.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Liverpool are ready to move on to their next transfer dealing. The Reds are plotting a £30 million move to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamerlain from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has endured a stuttering career ever since he left his boyhood club for Arsenal in 2011. However, having been hailed as one of the most promising young talents once, the player has failed to live up to his potential so far owing to injuries, inconsistent form and a constant shuffling of positions.

But, Oxlade-Chamberlain was a much improved player in 2016/17. The 23-year-old was, in fact, one of the brighter sparks in a mediocre season for Arsenal as he excelled in each of the positions he was deployed in, while also bagging 6 goals and 11 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.

The England international’s Arsenal future, though, is mired in heavy uncertainty as he is yet to pen a new deal with the club with just 12 months remaining on his current contract. Should the Gunners fail to offer him a renewal anytime soon, a move away from the Emirates could be on the cards.

And the club that looks the likeliest to secure his services is Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp a huge admirer of the player’s talents. And with the Liverpool boss keen to bolster his options in midfield, Oxlade-Chamberlain has emerged as a top target for the Merseyside club.

Klopp currently has Adam Lallana, Georginio Wijnaldum, Emre Can, Jordan Henderson and Lucas Leiva as his options for three positions in the centre of the park. But while Lucas is set to leave the club in the summer, a spate of injuries have meant that Henderson has spent more time off the pitch than on it.

With just three other players at his disposal, Klopp is eager to make reinforcements, thereby turning his attention towards Oxlade-Chamberlain. A summer switch to Anfield can work wonders for the player too who, with his pace and work rate can become an asset for the Liverpool manager.

The England international will also get the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season, with Arsenal set to play in the Europa League. And at 23, he can potentially become a long-term solution for Liverpool if he is able to live up to his potential.

The Reds, meanwhile, are set to test Arsenal’s resolve with a £30 million. And with recent reports claiming that the North London club are ready to cash in on Oxlade-Chamberlain, it remains to be seen if the aforementioned amount is enough for Liverpool to secure his services.
