Bayern Munich are reportedly inching closer to the signing of Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez, who will sign a bumper €8.5 million-a-year deal.

According to a report in TransferMarketWeb, Bayern Munich are on the verge of securing the services of Alexis Sanchez. The Bundesliga champions have put a bumper €8.5 million-a-year deal on the table for the Arsenal forward.

Sanchez moved to Arsenal from Barcelona in 2014, and the Chilean has been one of the most influential players in Arsene Wenger’s first-team setup at the Emirates since then. The player has consistently progressed during his time at the North London club, and 2016/17 was, by far, his most productive campaign.

Sanchez played 51 times across all competitions for Arsenal this past season and had a stellar return of 30 goals and 19 assists to show for his efforts.

The 28-year-old (24 goals and 10 assists) was also the only player in the Premier League to reach double figures for both goals and assists – only the second ever Arsenal player to achieve the feat, after Thierry Henry.

However, with little over a year remaining on his current deal at the Emirates, it seems inevitable that Sanchez’s time at Arsenal is coming to an end, after the club’s disastrous Premier League campaign saw them finish out of Top 4 for the first time in over two decades.

The North Londoners have, time and again, tabled improved contract offers to Sanchez over the last few months, but little progress has been made over reaching an agreement on a renewal. And thus, with his Arsenal future up in the air, it seems likely that he will leave the club for pastures anew in the summer.

Bayern Munich are increasingly looking like his next destination, with the player himself eager to work under Carlo Ancelotti at the Allianz Arena. The Bavarians are chalking out the final details of a deal that could see Sanchez pocket €8.5 million per year, as per the report.

Ancelotti currently has the likes of Douglas Costa, Kingsley Coman, Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben as his options for either side of his side’s attack.

But, with veterans Ribery and Robben on the wrong side of 30 and well into the twilight years of their glittering careers, the Bayern manager is believed to be keen on signing a quality attacker, with the Chilean’s newfound versatility an added bonus.

Meanwhile, a move to the Allianz Arena will enable Sanchez to play in the Champions League – and possibly lay his hands on the trophy – with Arsenal set to compete in the Europa League next season.

Manchester City have also been heavily linked with Sanchez in recent months, and it remains to be seen if the Citizens can do anything to steal a march on Bayern to land the Chilean from Arsenal this summer.
