Manchester City will reportedly cut down on outcast Joe Hart’s £20million price tag after no clubs come forward to sign the goalkeeper
According to a report by The Sun, Manchester City will have to re-evaluate their asking price for Joe Hart and reduce it since no club has shown any interest in signing the keeper who spent the previous season on loan at Serie A club Torino.
Pep Guardiola is on a mission to sell Hart to a different club after signing Benfica goalkeeper Ederson for £34.9million, just one year after signing Claudio Bravo for about £18million.
Joe Hart will want to play for a club where he can have guaranteed first-team action. However, he seems to prefer a move to a different club in the Premier League itself as he earlier ruled out the possibility of signing a permanent deal with Torino.
Joe Hart has been a part of Manchester City’s squad for almost a decade now, and was even adjudged the Golden Gloves winner four times during that period.
Hart did play integral roles in City’s two Premier League triumphs back in 2012 and 2014, but right now, the 30-year-old seems to struggle with maintaining his once lightning-fast reflexes and seems over-cautious in the goal.
His season with Turin ended as they trudged to 5-3 victory over Sassuolo, and Torino finished the season ninth in Serie A. Hart ended up conceding 62 goals in 36 games – keeping five clean sheets in the process. That is not an attractive set of numbers to possess for a goalkeeper.
With Pep Guardiola and Manchester City looking increasingly determined to launch a better campaign next season, Joe Hart will find no place in that squad especially after having keepers like Ederson and Claudio Bravo in their ranks.
While Hart was linked with Manchester United and Liverpool, the question is will he get to play as much first-team football as he wants? Meanwhile, Leicester City have also been keen on signing him. The Foxes particularly have been showing an interest since they might lose Kasper Schmeichel this summer.
At this point, the best bet for Hart would be to move to a side like Leicester City since all the other aforementioned clubs either have goalkeepers who have cemented that position or have better options in terms of back-ups, and a player of Hart’s former glory would not be satisfied playing second fiddle to another keeper.
