Manchester United have reportedly rejected a bid worth £60 million from Real Madrid for David De Gea.
According to a report in The Sun, Manchester United have turned down a bid for David De Gea that would have broken the world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper, after Real Madrid had tabled an offer of £60 million to secure the Spaniard’s services in the summer transfer window.
De Gea has been one of the most pivotal figures for Manchester United over the course of his six-year spell at Old Trafford, often coming up with match defining saves at the most crucial junctures.
In fact, the shot stopper has been so influential for the Premier League club that he is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world today. However, his stellar performances have also made him a highly sought-after player, with Real Madrid going all guns blazing to land him in the summer.

In fact, Los Blancos have been the admirers of De Gea’s talents for a long time now, and are making their second attempt to land the Spain number one. This comes after they failed in pursuit of the shot stopper in the summer of 2015 as failed paperwork scuppered the deal.
Back then, a deal worth £29 million had been agreed between Real Madrid and Manchester United for De Gea, and now the newly-crowned Spanish champions have come back with an offer more than double the aforementioned amount.
The report claims that Real Madrid had tabled an offer worth £60 million to clinch a deal for the 26-year-old, but it was swiftly turned down by Manchester United, with Jose Mourinho desperate to keep hold of his prized asset.
However, with Keylor Navas and Kiko Casilla not managing to impress Zinedine Zidane much this season, having blown hot and cold all through the campaign, Real Madrid are determined to secure De Gea’s services at any cost.
Therefore, they are set to make an improved offer for their target man, with Manchester United bracing themselves for a fresh bid next week. The Red Devils, though, are ready to pull out all the stops to retain the services of De Gea, and keep him from making a return to the Spanish capital this summer.
It now remains to be seen as to what lengths Real Madrid are ready to go to in order to land the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper ahead of the 2017/18.
