Transfer News: Inter Milan reject Manchester United’s bid of £30million for Ivan Perisic

Inter Milan have reportedly rejected Manchester United’s first bid of £30 million for Ivan Perisic.

According to a report by Transfer Market Web, Italian club Inter Milan have rejected an initial bid by Manchester United for £30 million as they are looking to increase the amount for the Croatian footballer.

Ivan Perisic has been a long-time target for United as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen the club’s attack. In fact, it was also reported that the manager actually traveled to Zagreb ahead of Croatia’s World Cup qualifier against Ukraine in March to talk with the player himself.

Perisic essentially plays as a winger or forward for the Serie A club. Even though Mourinho himself once managed Inter Milan, Perisic was not with the Nerazzurri and has not played under Mourinho up until now.

After finishing the final season of his youth life at French side Sochaux, the 28-year-old moved to Club Brugge before joining German giants Borussia Dortmund. Following two seasons at Dortmund, Perisic spent two more years in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg, before joining Inter Milan in 2015.

Perisic has also racked up 56 caps for Croatia, scoring 16 times for his country.

The winger has made his desire to move quite vocal, especially after Inter’s disappointing season in Serie A as they failed to qualify for Champions League despite somehow managing to return to form and capturing seventh by the end of the season.

Perisic has made 68 appearances and scored 17 goals for Inter Milan ever since he joined in 2015. United need a good midfielder and Perisic’s versatility can prove to be handy for Mourinho considering he can be deployed as an attacking midfielder and a second striker.

United have managed to seal a Champions League spot for next season but they need to have a stronger team to cope with the rigours of the Premier League and European competition. To do that, they will need a strong attacking midfielder who is capable of delivering pacey and accurate performances.

Perisic is particularly gifted in those areas and can do well to support the likes of Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford. Also, with Michael Carrick’s recent decline in form, United need to sign a dependable midfielder who is versatile yet consistent.

The in-demand midfielder does have a lot of clubs vying for him, and it was earlier reported that Chelsea are desperately trying to sign him. However, United will have to increase their bid if they are to beat competition and snatch the talented Croatian.

The Red Devils have also been linked with signing Danny Rose from Tottenham Hotspur as Mourinho wants to add more defensive options. High-profile signings like Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid also seem to be on the cards for the club.
