Real Madrid have reportedly emerged as the latest suitor in the pursuit of AS Monaco superstar Bernardo Silva and are set to compete with Manchester United.
According to French publication Le 10 Sport, Manchester United’s pursuit of AS Monaco superstar Bernardo Silva has just got tougher, with Real Madrid emerging as the latest suitor in the chase for the Portuguese playmaker.
Bernardo Silva has been phenomenal since moving to AS Monaco from SL Benfica in 2015. The Benfica academy graduate has blossomed into a superstar in European football after his move to France and this season, further established his name, both in Ligue 1 and in the club’s Champions League journey.
The player notched up a massive 57 appearances this campaign, with a return of 11 goals and 12 assists – 11 of which have come in the league alone. The 22-year-old is highly versatile, adept at playing on either wing and in the central attacking midfield – the main reason for the widespread interest in the attacker.
While there have been multiple clubs rumoured to be interested in the player, Manchester United are the one club that he has been linked with on numerous occasions, with Jose Mourinho looking to add to his wing options in the summer at Old Trafford.
According to Canal+ tonight, Bernardo Silva is very close to #mufc deal. It’s maybe the reason why United aren’t that hot on James after all

Add to that the fact that the player, in Jorge Mendes, shares the same agent as Jose Mourinho and the rumours have only gained traction. However, there is a new suitor for Bernardo Silva, with Real Madrid looking to add the Portuguese superstar to their squad, especially with the exit rumours surrounding James Rodriguez.
The Colombian is almost certain to depart the club after he appeared to give a resounding wave – a goodbye of sorts – to Santiago Bernabeu while being subbed earlier in the week and Zinedine Zidane is looking to fill the void with the arrival of Bernardo Silva.
The Portuguese would hopefully sync in well with Cristiano Ronaldo, which is why Zidane is eyeing a summer move for the player.
Manchester United have already beaten Real Madrid in the transfer market in the pursuit of Paul Pogba. However, Real Madrid could be determined to land Bernardo Silva, if Zidane gives Florentino Perez the all clear on the pursuit.
Jose Mourinho, on the other side, would be seeking to add at least one of James Rodriguez and Bernardo Silva. And judging by Real Madrid’s valuation of the Colombian, the Red Devils could shift all their attention to the pursuit of the 22-year-old.
