Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Turkish goalkeeping sensation Berke Ozer from Altinordu and are expected to have the 16-year-old at the club in the summer

According to the Sun, Manchester City are expected to strengthen their goalkeeping department this summer with an investment in a young shot-stopper likened to AC Milan’s teenage sensation Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Altinordu’s Berke Ozer has attracted the attention of late for his exploits with Turkey’s U-17 team at the on-going European Championships and it appears the Citizens have wasted no time in securing a deal for the player.

Aside from a stellar showing at the continental spectacle in Croatia, he also holds the record of being the first player born after 2000 to feature for a first team outfit in the Turkish top flight.

He’s only had two outings for Altinordu, but Ozer is already being touted for big things in the European circuit. Aside a futuristic investment, City are also looking at a lot of current goalkeeping hotshots to take the mantle in goal at the Etihad with Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma and Benfica’s Ederson the most frequently linked.

Their defensive troubles not withstanding, Manchester City have certainly have had issues in goal with first-choice shot-stopper Claudio Bravo enduring a dreadful debut season in the Premier League leading  Guardiola to rely on the services of Willy Caballero.

The failure of Bravo doesn’t reflect well on Guardiola given how he orchestrated Joe Hart’s departure on-loan to Torino in-order to accommodate Bravo. There’s no questioning that the Spaniard feels the heat of the decision and he is looking to make amends with subsequent investments this summer.

His movements in the transfer market has effectively put an end to Hart’s career at the Etihad with Pep seemingly unwilling to entertain the prospect of the England international featuring in his plans upon his return from Turin.

A summer of immense spending is once again expected at City with Pep looking to put behind a disappointing first season behind him and potentially challenge for the title in 2017-18.

While Ozer’s signing doesn’t go anywhere in satisfying that, it certainly falls in line with their lofty ambitions for the future as they continue to invest in young and promising talents across the continent.

Ozer will join a promising pool of youngsters at the Manchester academy and should he impress there is no reason why Guardiola wouldn’t give the Turk a shot at making a name for himself.
