Manchester United reportedly face competition from Inter Milan to land Renato Sanches from Bayern Munich in the summer.
According to a report in TuttoMercatoWeb, Manchester United and Inter Milan are interested in signing Renato Sanches from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window, and the two European heavyweights are ready to go head-to-head in his pursuit.
Sanches burst onto the scene with Benfica in what was a breakthrough campaign with the Portuguese giants last season. The teenage sensation then followed that up with a promising campaign in the European Championship, making his mark for the eventual champions, Portugal.
With Sanches showing a lot of promise despite only being in his teens, Bayern Munich beat some stiff competition to sign him last summer. However, Sanches’ career has stuttered following the switch to the Allianz Arena as he has struggled to carve out a regular place for himself.

With the presence of stalwarts of the likes of Arturo Vidal, Xabi Alonso and Thiago Alcantara, among others, Sanches has managed to start just 9 games in addition to making 15 appearances off the bench. His struggles are also highlighted by the fact that he is yet to either score a goal or provide an assist in Bayern colours so far.
As a result, there is heavy speculation surrounding his future at Bayern. And surprisingly, clubs are starting to circle around the teenager once again. As per the report, Manchester United and Inter Milan are two outfits that have expressed an interest in signing Sanches and are ready to make a move for him.
In fact, Manchester United have been following Sanches’ progress for a long time now, and were vying for his signature with Bayern, before the youngster opted for the Bundesliga champions. And manager Jose Mourinho has often voiced his displeasure at the club’s inability to sign him.
However, it now looks like Mourinho is ready to sanction another assault for Sanches this summer. The Manchester United boss currently has just Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick as his options in midfield.
With Carrick soon approaching the end of his glittering career, the Red Devils are believed to be scouting long-term replacements for the Englishman. And judging by the promise he has shown in his career so far – notwithstanding the disappointments of the current campaign – Sanches could just be that man.
Meanwhile, at Inter Milan, the Suning Group are set to invest heavily with the aim of creating a squad capable of winning titles on a consistent basis. As a result, an overhaul is being mooted, with positions all across the park set to be bolstered.
Midfield is believed to be a priority as well, with Ever Banega and Geoffrey Kondogbia blowing hot and cold all through the campaign. Sanches is, thus, being eyed as a player to form a part of a squad that heralds an exciting new era for the Nerazzurri.
The report goes on to add that Manchester United are ready to stump up €35 million to secure the player’s services. It now remains to be seen if Inter match that offer, and if Bayern are open to offloading Sanches after just one season.
