Italian publication Calciomercato have reported that Fabinho is set to become the subject of a transfer tug-of-war between Manchester United and Inter Milan, with both clubs eager to land the Brazilian in the summer transfer window.

Fabinho’s career has taken off ever since he moved to Monaco on loan from Rio Ave in 2013, before sealing a permanent deal at Stade Louis II in 2015. So much so, that the Brazilian has become one of the most highly sought-after players in Europe having established himself as an integral member for the club.

The 23-year-old has especially impressed with his versatility, as he is as adept at playing as a right-back as he is as a midfielder. And in a campaign in which the likes of Bernardo Silva, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Kylian Mbappe and Radamel Falcao have grabbed the headlines for Monaco’s stunning rise to the top of Ligue 1, Fabinho has been an unsung hero.

A mainstay in Leonardo Jardim’s first-team setup, Fabinho has amassed 52 appearances for the principality club this season, keeping things tight in front of his backline while also chipping in with 11 goals and 6 assists.

As he continues to develop into one of the most multi-faceted players in Europe, Fabinho is starting to attract the attention of some of the best clubs in the continent. In fact, the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Barcelona have previously been in talks with his representatives over a possible transfer.

As per the latest report though, Manchester United and Inter Milan are the front-runners in the race to sign Fabinho in the summer, with both the clubs keen on adding him to their squads.

At, Manchester United, Fabinho will be a valuable addition at the heart of midfield, where Jose Mourinho has just Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick as his options. But while Fellaini has been erratic, Carrick is reaching the end of his glittering career.

At the same time, Fabinho can also become a long-term solution at the right side of the defence, when Antonio Valencia eventually calls time on his Manchester United career. But, the Premier League heavyweights are not alone in pursuit of Fabinho, as Inter are eager to land him as well.

For the Nerazzurri as well, Fabinho can become a solution in both defence and midfield, and with their new owners, the Suning Group willing to invest heavily in order to recruit the best players in the summer, they will fight tooth and nail to sign the Brazilian.

Both sides have scouted Fabinho on several occasions over the course of the season, and they are set to make a move for him in the summer. The report suggests that an offer of €40 million could be enough to tempt Monaco into letting go of the player, and it remains to be seen if either side can manager to land him.
