Pep Guardiola is ready to offer the services of Kelechi Iheanacho to Borussia Dortmund, in an attempt to lure Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Etihad stadium

According to a report by The Sun, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is keen on signing the Gabonese international for his club, even as Aubameyang had earlier made it clear that he’s interested only in offers from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

There were earlier rumours of Iheanacho making a move out of City by the end of this season, and now it looks like he might be preparing to move to Dortmund, as Aubameyang is high upon Guardiola’s list of potential players.

Aubameyang – a rather prolific centre-forward – has been in brilliant form for Thomas Tuchel’s club this season. Tuchel has estimated an amount of £60million for the forward, and it is alleged that initial talks between both clubs have already taken place.

The 27-year-old is considered one of Europe’s best strikers at this point, having scored about 35 times this season. Iheanacho, on the other hand, has lost his footing in the squad ever since Gabriel Jesus arrived in January, and a Bundesliga move might be perfect for the striker. He is also struggling to secure a spot for himself in Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup team.

Aubameyang first joined Dortmund back in 2013 following a move from Saint-Etienne, and he has been on a steady rise ever since. Last season was probably his career best as he was the second top scorer in Bundesliga. The only one ahead of him was Robert Lewandoski with five extra goals. However, this season, he might just end up topping that chart, owing to the lethal football he’s been playing.

As far as Manchester City’s team is concerned, they currently have three centre-forwards – Sergio Aguero, Kelechi Iheanacho and Gabriel Jesus. The Nigerian internatinal has not started a game for City since the 2-1 win over Burnley on January 2nd, and it only makes sense that Guardiola would want to give that space to somebody like Aubameyang.

With a disappointing first season as boss of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola will be eager to make a fresh start next season.

However, there was a time when Aubameyang had expressed how playing for Real Madrid would be a “dream”, and he has already been linked to Los Blancos. It remains to be seen whether or not Guardiola succeeds in signing the splendid striker for his squad this summer.
