Arsenal regains interest in AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca after performance against Leicester City

Arsene Wenger has reportedly regained his interest in signing AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca as the striker might be on the move this summer.

On the heels of a victory sponged off Robert Huth’s own goal against Leicester City, the need for a classic striker for Arsenal was evident. According to a report by Tribal Football, Arsene Wenger has re-developed an interest in AC Milan’s striker Carlos Bacca after the narrow victory over the Foxes.

The Colombian international was in Wenger’s sights even when he was playing for Sevilla, and now as the season draws to a close, Bacca is most likely to look for a move out of AC Milan. Even Spanish club Valencia is said to be keeping an eye on the striker.

After scoring 14 goals so far in the season, this might just be the best time for Bacca to leave AC Milan to a higher-paying club. Also, if he does join Arsenal, he will get to enjoy a solid central role as a striker since the Gunners are failing to succeed with the likes of Theo Walcott and Wenger would like to deploy Alexis Sanchez in his more natural position.

With Sanchez also reported to be moving out of Arsenal by the end of the season, Wenger needs to sign a good striker immediately. Bacca almost came close to joining West Ham United last summer and while a €30 million deal was agreed upon, the move failed to materialise for some reason.

As far as his performance goes, Bacca has produced some brilliant displays for Milan this season and has scored 14 goals in 28 Serie A appearances. However, that might not have been enough for him to cement his place at the club since he is not part of the starting line-up with Gianluca Lapadula preferred ahead of him in some games.

Given his current form, not only will Milan get a good deal for him, but he will also enjoy a better role at Arsenal, if he chooses to make the Emirates stadium his next home.
