Manchester United outcast Adnan Januzaj is determined to remain in the Premier League when he is axed by Jose Mourinho this summer.

According to a report in The Sun, Adnan Januzaj is keen to remain in England when Manchester United offload him in the summer. Jose Mourinho has been left unimpressed by his performances on loan at Sunderland this season.

Januzaj burst onto the scene with Manchester United in the disastrous 2013/14 season, being one of the few bright sparks for the club as they finished seventh in their miserable defence of the Premier League title.

A resounding success story for Manchester United in that campaign, he made 27 appearances in the English top flight to score four goals and provide as many assists. However, three disappointing seasons have followed since then and Januzaj’s career has stagnated.

After playing only a handful times under Louis van Gaal, he was sent on loan to Borussia Dortmun where he managed just 6 Bundesliga appearances. Following Jose Mourinho’s appointment as Manchester United manager, Januzaj was subsequently sent on another loan spell – this time to Sunderland.

It was believed that Mourinho sent Januzaj to the Stadium of Light to gain some valuable play time, as he insisted that the Belgian international remained in his long-term plans. However, after what has perspired this season with the Black Cats, Mourinho seems to no longer deem the 22-year-old fit enough for his squad at Old Trafford.

Januzaj has played 22 Premier League games for Sunderland this season, but only has a paltry return of 3 assists to show for his efforts. That is hardly a convincing enough tally for a club of the stature of Sunderland, let alone that of Manchester United.

As a result, it has emerged that Manchester United are ready to sell Januzaj after failing to make any sort of impact in the last few seasons. And a source with Manchester United has told The Sun that the youngster wishes to stay in England when he is axed by Jose Mourinho at the end of the season.

“Adnan wants to stay in England. He’s expected to leave the club this summer and is not wanted by Jose anymore,” the source said. “Talks are planned between his camp and United sometime next month. He has told close pals the Premier League is still his first choice and that he enjoys living in this country and that he likes it here.”

Januzaj will have just 12 months remaining on his contract with Manchester United and the Red Devils are willing to accept an offer of £7 million for him. It now remains to be seen if any Premier League club make an offer to sign him in the summer, as he looks set to resume his once fledgling career, sans Manchester United.
