Arsenal and Napoli are reportedly set for a transfer battle to sign Dusan Tadic from Southampton in the summer.
Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb have reported that Arsenal and Napoli are interested in signing Dusan Tadic from Southampton in the summer transfer window. Ther Serbian midfielder is also attracting interest from Juventus and Atletico Madrid.
Tadic moved to England in 2014 when he joined Southampton as one of Ronald Koeman’s first signings as the Saints boss. Nearly three seasons have passed, and the 28-year-old has established himself as a key figure for the club.
Tadic has played a fundamental role in Southampton playing European football for two seasons in a row, and was a central figure as the South Coast club reached the final of the EFL Cup in February. In all, the Serbian international has played 34 times for his side this season, bagging 3 goals and 7 assists in the process.
Suffice to say, he has been an impressive addition to the English top flight, and his performances seem to have captured the attention of two top clubs in Europe. Arsenal and Napoli are showing keen interest in securing the services of Tadic in the summer.
Arsenal are currently in a tough spot as far as options for the attacking positions are concerned, none bigger than Mesut Ozil, who continues to stall on signing a contract renewal. Tadic is, thus, being eyed as a possible replacement for the German playmaker at the North London club.
Meanwhile, Napoli had scouts in attendance at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena to watch Tadic in action against Georgia. Their representatives would have been left impressed by his performance on the night, as the 28-year-old scored one and assisted two goals to lead the Serbs to a comfortable 3-1 win.
With top scorer Dries Mertens being heavily linked with a move away from the San Paolo, Tadic is a viable target for Maurizio Sarri to consider. However, Napoli and Arsenal aren’t the only club vying for his signature, as Atletico Madrid and Juventus are also showing interest.
Tadic has recently expressed his frustrations at not being able to play a part in the entirety of Southampton’s recent matches, and it is believed that he could be persuaded to leave St. Mary’s in the summer.
The report has revealed that his Southampton contract has a release clause worth €15 million, which is a fee that is unlikely to deter his suitors. It now remains to be seen how things develop in the coming months as Tadic continues to attract interest from top clubs across Europe.
