Manchester United have reignited their interest in Toni Kroos and are lining up a summer move for the Real Madrid midfielder, as per reports.

According to a report from The Independent, Manchester United could be back in the market for Toni Kroos having revived their interest in the Real Madrid midfielder. The Red Devils have been long-time admirers of the Germany international and they could be back in the market for him in the summer.

Toni Kroos is a player who doesn’t really need much introduction. He started his career as a promising 17-year-old midfielder at Bayern Munich before establishing himself at the centre of the park for the Bavarian club.

His superlative performances for Bayern saw Kroos being linked with a host of top European clubs, with Manchester United the most prominent of these names. And even though the Premier League club had agreed terms with the German midfielder back in 2013, the deal didn’t materialise and Kroos ended up joining Real Madrid in 2014.

Kroos has definitely improved since his move to the Santiago Bernabeu, with superb passing abilities from deep as well as in and around the box. Numbers make for good reading too, with Kross providing 40 assists in 129 appearances for Real Madrid, with 12 of those coming this season.

Needless to say, he is a player who would improve most teams in Europe, and the report states that Manchester United is one such team that is eager to make good on its interest and launch an offer for Kroos’ services in the summer.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be going about his planning for the summer transfer window in a forensic manner having first identified the key positions that need targetting. Central midfield is one of these positions, with the Manchester United boss keen to sign a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick.

While the Englishman does seem to be in Mourinho’s plans for the immediate future, but his successor certainly is on the manger’s agenda. Kroos is a player who fits the bill perfectly, and he has also garnered praise from Paul Scholes as a player who Manchester United must target to sit in their midfield.

Indeed, Kroos’ ability to sit in front of the back four and pull the strings from deep in the midfield is a quality that Mourinho will appreciate. It will also allow Paul Pogba the freedom he needs to advance up on the field and influence the attack without worrying a lot about defensive duties.

So, Manchester United seem to be lining up a move for Kroos again. But while Real Madrid have branded him as an ‘un-sellable’ player, the Premier League giants are eager to test their resolve by going all out for him in the summer.
