Barcelona have reportedly joined Manchester United and others in the race to sign highly-rated Danish international Kasper Dolberg, who currently plays for Ajax
Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo are claiming that Barcelona are interested in Ajax striker Kasper Dolberg. The youngster has been linked, primarily to Manchester United while the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City have also been credited with interest. And it looks like the Catalans are the latest to join the list.
Kasper Dolberg, at the age of 19, is already full-fledged international for Denmark. Having joined Ajax in the summer of 2015, the player has quickly risen through the ranks to the senior squad, and has made the centre-forward role his own at the Amsterdam Arena.
Boasting of a record of 9 goals and 3 assists in 19 Eredivisie games this season, along with 3 goals in 9 games in European competitions namely, the Champions League qualification stages and subsequently, the Europa League, Dolberg’s stocks have seen a meteoric rise.
And his performances have certainly not gone unnoticed. The likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea aside, there have also been reports of interest from Borussia Dortmund, Everton and Juventus. Another testament to the youngster’s talent is that he was discovered by the same talent scout who spotted Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
It is reported Jose Mourinho has given a direct order to the officials at Manchester United to secure Kasper Dolberg. But now Barcelona have also entered the chase. The Catalans have been scouring the Ajax side for talents, and have been linked heavily with Davinson Sanchez of late.
Mundo report that many compare Dolberg with a young Marco Van Basten, which is only going to pique Barcelona’s interest in the 19-year-old talent. Barcelona have been made aware that, given the interest in Dolberg, Ajax could be set to part with the player in the near future.
And the Catalans are monitoring the striker with the view of being one of the suitors if and when Dolberg does become available and when Ajax start entertaining bids for the Dane. There is likely to be a bloodbath between the European elites to land Kasper Dolberg, who looks set for superstardom.
And Barcelona, who themselves are looking for a solution in the forward area, with Paco Alcacer failing to capture the imagination at Nou Camp since moving from Valencia, would hope Dolberg can achieve whatever he is set to, donning the Blaugrana shirt.
