Real Madrid are reportedly intent on selling Danilo, with Chinese clubs said to be interested.
According to Don Balon, Zinedine Zidane has had enough of Danilo’s performances and has already made the decision to offload the Brazilian. They state that Zidane has already informed the Real Madrid hierarchy of his decision with various Chinese clubs interested in the right-back.
Danilo has had a very tough time this season and has only managed 14 appearances across all competitions. The Real Madrid crowd are notorious for booing their own players when they feel they are not good enough for the club and Danilo has had to endure just that in recent weeks.
The Brazilian international unfortunately scored 2 own goals in a row after starting for the side thanks to their recent injury crisis, first against Sevilla and then against Celta Vigo, only exacerbating fans who were already frustrated with the sudden run of poor form Los Blancos were enduring.
Danilo was subsequently booed whenever he was on the ball and was even booed as his name was read out on the team sheets. There is an element of misfortune to his situation at Real but he has done himself no favours with his sub-standard performances.
And Don Balon claim that Zinedine Zidane now feels that his situation is “irrecoverable” and has decided that the only solution is for Danilo to be sold. They state that the own goal against Celta Vigo sealed Danilo’s fate and that Real Madrid will now look for potential buyers.
It has quite a downward spiral for Danilo. From being touted as the next Dani Alves to come out of Brazil, the player saw his stocks rise quite a bit with impressive performances for Porto in both domestic and European performances.
Having joined the club for £27 million from Porto in 2015, Danilo had a relatively successful first season at the Bernabeu and managed to make 24 appearances in the league scoring twice. However, his progress has seemingly stalled and he is firmly second-choice behind Dani Carvajal.
It would not be surprising to see Danilo sold but given that Madrid cannot register any new players until the summer, Zidane may yet decide to hold onto Danilo until the end of the season in case Madrid require his services.
