Everton have entered the race to sign Jack Wilshere, who is on loan at Bournemouth, with Ronald Koeman making the Arsenal man a major summer target.

The Daily Mirror have reported that Everton manager Ronald Koeman is preparing to overhaul his midfield in the summer, and has made Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere, who is currently on a season-long loan spell at Bournemouth, a major summer target.

Jack Wilshere rose up the ranks at Arsenal, making his debut for the club at a tender age of 16 in 2008 to become Arsenal’s youngest ever Premier League debutant, after impressive displays for the youth team. And even though he has made waves since then, his progress at Arsenal has been constantly hindered by a spate of injuries.

Wilshere’s terrible luck with injuries has seen him miss major chunks of the 2014/15 season, apart from missing the 2011/12 and 2015/16 seasons entirely, thus restricting him to just 105 appearances for the Gunners in a little over eight years.

This season, however, has seen a resurgent Jack Wilshere take the field, albeit in the colours of Bournemouth, as he has managed to appear in all but two games for the Cherries, only forced to miss the two games against his parent club.

And while Wilshere hasn’t managed to hit the back of the net for Eddie Howe’s side, his creative side has come to the fore this season, as he has been at the centre of everything Bournemouth have created in their run up to being ninth in the Premier League table.

This has seen Everton, along with Manchester City spring to attention, with Ronald Koeman known to be a long-time admirer of the England international’s talents. Morgan Schneiderlin is already close to sealing a move to the Goodison Park.

With Wilshere’s acquisition, Koeman is eyeing a potential midfield overhaul in the summer. And even though, there is a concern that the Toffees could struggle to match the terms that Manchester City offer, Koeman is confident that Farhad Moshiri’s financial clout could see them offer Wilshere a lucrative contract.

Wilshere’s current deal with Arsenal runs out in 18 months in the summer of 2018. Arsene Wenger recently confirmed that the club hasn’t opened talks with Wilshere to negotiate on a new contract.

So, with Wilshere concerned over his future at Arsenal, we may see the England international on the move come the summer transfer window, with Everton, Manchester City and a host of other clubs lurking to make a move for the highly rated midfielder.
