Liverpool are preparing to make a final push to sign Quincy Promes in the January transfer window as the race for the Premier League title intensifies.

The Daily Mirror report that Liverpool are ready to make a move for Netherlands international Quincy Promes by putting a serious offer on the table, with several other Premier League clubs starting to show an interest in the Spartak Moscow star.

The 25-year-old has made a big name for himself after a troubled start to his professional career, when he was dismissed from Ajax’s academy for indiscipline. However, ever since his move to Spartak Moscow in 2014, he has been a figure of consistency for the Russian outfit.

Promes has hit the back of the net 37 times in 72 appearances for Spartak Moscow at an impressive rate of 182.5 minutes per goal. More remarkably, he has finished as the club’s top scorer in two of the past three seasons, being a key figure in his side’s attacking endeavours.

Promes has again been excellent at the start of this season, having scored six goals in 17 appearances, with a further seven assists to show for his efforts. And the report from the Mirror states that Spartak Moscow are keen to cash in on the Dutchman’s popularity.

With Promes signing a new long-term deal with Spartak earlier this season, the club have placed a price tag of £25 million on his head.

However, that won’t deter Liverpool in their pursuit of the winger, who are ready to step up their interest in Promes with some of the other Premier League clubs threatening to enter the race to sign him.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is also keen to make reinforcements in attack, with Sadio Mane unavailable for a month due to his commitments for Senegal during the Africa Cup of Nations.

That leaves the German with Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi has his attacking options, with the versatile Adam Lallana as an additional option from midfield. Promes, with his directness and speed, offers a pacy outlet similar to Mane.

After Christian Pulisic made it known that he’s staying put at Borussia Dortmund, Promes is a worthy enough alternative for Klopp to consider, having been regularly linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks.

If he can replicate his consistency for the Reds, Promes can offer Liverpool something extra in their push to win the Premier League title for the first time in 26 years.
