Catalan manager Pep Guardiola has cut a frustrated figure at Manchester City of late, and his latest comments will not endear him to the City fans much.

The Citizens got their Premier League campaign back on track with a hard fought victory over Burnley, but their manager has been behaving in a bizarre fashion of late.

His post-match interview after the Burnley game was a strange one, where he seemed frustrated despite his team grabbing all three points. Now Guardiola has gone one step further, comparing his current club unfavorably to their local rivals Manchester United.

“We don’t have the history with this shirt, of Barcelona, Juventus, Munich or Manchester United. Not their titles,” said Guardiola, according to the Daily Mirror.

“It’s about being in Europe and over the next decade to be there [in the Champions League] every year. That’s more important to this club than winning one title, believe me, more than that.

“We have to convince people at this amazing club that they are good. They are good. And the fans as well. They have to believe they are good, the club is good, the players are good.”

Manchester City may be lacking in the history that their arch-rivals boast of, but, in other areas, they are up there with the best in the Premier League. Things have changed drastically since the club was taken over by City football group.

The Citizens have since won two Premier League titles and have become mainstays in the Champions League. They are also one of the richest clubs in the world and boast of one of the best squads, featuring global superstars like Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne.

Their new manager Pep Guardiola arrived amidst much pomp and fanfare, after having enjoyed successful stints at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. However it seems like the Catalan is struggling to adjust to the rigours of the English Premier League.

His latest comments will definitely rile up the Manchester City faithful, and Manchester United fans will surely be smirking in glee. Perhaps his poor interactions are just a reflection of the poor results on the pitch.

Guardiola is not used to being out of the top two in any league, and City currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, seven points behind leaders Chelsea.
