Sevilla are now in pole position to sign Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz on loan in January.
The 23-year-old finally managed to break into the Real Madrid starting XI this term under Zinedine Zidane and he has managed to score 5 goals in a mere 6 appearances in all competitions, 4 of them coming in the Copa Del Rey.
But for all of his talent and promise, he has been unable to establish himself as a first team regular.A temporary move away next month would help him continue his development while getting some regular first team action, for which he has had no shortage of suitors.
The Real Madrid Castilla graduate has been linked with clubs such as Lazio, Valencia, Sevilla, Malaga and Deportivo. German side Eintracht Frankfurt were also reported to be interested last week and held a meeting at the Bernabeu to discuss a possible move.
According to a report in AS, Sevilla are now in pole position to land the young Spaniard on a short term loan in January. Despite certain complications which won’t allow him to participate in the Champions League and the Copa Del Rey, Andalusia is Mariano’s likeliest destination.
AS also state that Madrid’s transfer ban, which was recently reduced to only one transfer window by the CAS, will have no impact on the player moving to and returning from any possible loan deal at the end of the season, which makes it all the more convenient.
The Spaniard has also previously stated his desire to move away to a ‘high level’ outfit due to lack of game time this season. Mariano is their third choice striker, behind Alvaro Morata and Karim Benzema and a loan move away to get regular game time seems be the best step going forward with regard to his development.
