Transfer Rumour: Chelsea FC, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton set to battle it out for FC Barcelona teenager Marc Cucurella

Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are in a three-way tussle to prise Barcelona youngster Marc Cucurella away from the Nou Camp

According to reports in Spain, Premier League sides Tottenham and Everton are interested in signing Barcelona’s 18-year-old left-back Marc Cucurella. Fellow English club Chelsea are also reportedly keeping tabs on the player, and will join the race should the teenager be made available.

Cucurella has a contract at that runs out at the end of this season at the Nou Camp, and can thus begin negotiations with the Premier League trio interested in signing him.

The teenager’s performances for Barca Juvenil A have been exemplary this term, which has spiked up interest from England. Barcelona’s club representatives are understood to be huge fans of the player, and are willing to offer Cucurella an extension at the Nou Camp.

However, the up and coming left-back has his sights on first-team football and may be lured towards the United Kingdom due to the glitz and glamour of the Premier League.

Also, big sharks like Chelsea and Tottenham will offer a better paycheck to the player, while he can soon take over the reins from Leighton Baines to become Everton’s first-choice left-back.

Even if the London duo decide to sign him, they probably will opt to send the Spaniard on loan where he can gain regular playing minutes, and could soon break into the first-team. Currently Spurs have Danny Rose and Ben Davies as their top two left-backs, while Antonio Conte has Marcos Alonso who has put in stellar performances in the left wing-back position.

Cucurella has shown plenty of promise on the youth stage as he recently made a jump into the Barcelona B side. Their manager Gerard Lopez has been keeping a keen eye on him and has named the teenager in his squad to play L’Hospitalet next Saturday.

Chelsea and Spurs may also send their scouts to track the player’s progress, and could step in with an offer in the January transfer window.
