Manchester United legend, Liverpool star embroiled in war of the words

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius and Manchester United great turned pundit Gary Neville have been trading barbs recently, after the latter had criticized the former last weekend.

The next round of Premier League may be upon us, but the fallout from the last round of action has seen Loris Karius and Gary Neville embroiled in a war of words recently. It all started when the pair of former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher and Neville subjected Karius to some scathing criticism after Liverpool’s loss to Bournemouth.

Karius spilled the ball late in the game which allowed Chelsea loanee Nathan Ake to score the winner for the Cherries. His mistake was picked apart by Carragher and Neville after the game, with both saying that the German keeper wasn’t good enough for Liverpool.

The German keeper was asked about the criticism recently. While Karius acknowledged Carragher’s right to be disappointed, he was not as accepting of the criticism of Carragher’s partner in punditry Gary Neville.

“Carragher was here at Liverpool for a long time so maybe after the game he was a bit frustrated,’ said Karius, according to the Daily Mail.

“He is probably still a supporter. I have to accept it. And I don’t care what Gary Neville said. He was a top player, then he was a manager for a short bit and now he is back to being an expert again.

“But he is always very critical. I think he does it to everyone. I just hope that when I do well he will comment on that. We will see in the future.”

Gary Neville has now hit back at the comments by Karius, quoting the harsh words of his fellow pundit Carragher on Instagram.

Manchester United and Liverpool are two of the traditional rivals of English football. The animosity between the two clubs has seen a lot of barbs being traded over the years, and Karius will no doubt have pleased the Anfield faithful with his retort to Neville.

‪My sincere apologies Karius. You're right. A failed manager hasn't a clue. I won't copy your great fan , pundit and club legend again. ‬

Neville was one of the finest full-backs in the world during his playing days for Manchester United. However he had a very disappointing stint as manager at Valencia, and has now returned to full-time punditry for Sky Sports.
