Dortmund’s Sporting Director Michael Zorc has told Liverpool not to waste their time trying to sign Christian Pulisic.
Liverpool attempted to sign Pulisic in the summer, but their bids were never even considered by Borussia Dortmund, who only signed the American international last February. Jurgen Klopp was the man who brought Pulisic to his former club in the first place, but it now seems that any potential reunion between the two will have to wait.
Recent reports have indicated that Dortmund will try and tie down Pulisic with a new contract, which will no doubt have a huge release clause given the youngster’s talent.
And, according to Dortmund Sporting Director Michael Zorc, Liverpool have no chance of signing the youngster in any case :
“Liverpool can save themselves the effort of trying to sign Pulisic,” he said, according to Bild
The 18-year old has made 13 appearances for Dortmund this season – 4 of which have come as a substitute – and has racked up an impressive 2 goals and 5 assists across all competitions. A pacy, technically skilled player; Pulisic is comfortable with both feet and can hence play on either side of the pitch.
He has captained the USA U-17 team, and became the youngest player to ever represent the country in a World Cup Qualifier when he was handed his senior debut by Jurgen Klinsmann in a qualifying game against Guatemala in March. He also became the youngest player to score for the United States in the modern era, when he put home a late goal in a 4–0 friendly win against Bolivia. He has already made 11 appearances for his country, and has scored 3 goals in those appearances.
Pulisic’s current contract runs until 2019, but it is likely that he will sign an extension ending any hope of signing him for Liverpool.
